The Saga – May 24th

by Immortals | Saga | 24 May 2017

If you’ve paying attention to the Mid-Season Invitational and the rumors of Rift Rivals, you’ve been missing out – Immortals competed in Smash, Vainglory, and Overwatch over the past week, and we had some awesome games.  If you couldn’t catch them, don’t worry too much – we get you caught up every week with the Saga.  (If you want to watch our games live, our Discord’s a great resource, and we keep you posted on Twitter.)

Now, let’s get to the good stuff!

Smash

Tl;dr: ANTi finishes Top 4, eliminating ZeRo and Mr. R, at 2GGC: Greninja Saga
Recommended Match: ANTi v ZeRo

If you asked ANTi how he was doing before this event, he might tell you he’s washed or in a bit of a slump.  That was before he entered 2GGC: Greninja Saga on fire and finished top 4, taking down Mr. R and ZeRo.  ANTi may have cleaned up the competition and turned everyone’s heads this tournament, but this isn’t even his final form – he still hasn’t debuted his Sheik.  We’re super proud of his fourth place finish, and we’re looking forward to watching him at his next tournaments now that he’s leveled up.

Curious to know more about ANTi?  We just debuted a feature about where his past and future goals.  You’re not too late to be a fan of the smoothest player in the game.

Vainglory

Tl;dr: We are eliminated from cross-regional play by G2, but defeat Hammers 3-2
Recommended Match: Immortals v Hammers

The VG8 headed to London, and Immortals came along on that journey!  We went up against Hammers in a Best of 5 match-up, and we put on a show; it was a 3-2 showdown that we eventually conquered.  Next up, we entered cross-regional play.  Unfortunately, G2 Esports eliminated us there in a 3-0 rout.  GGs to both Hammers and G2, and we’ll be back stronger next time!

Overwatch

Tl;dr: We come last in the May Alienware Monthly Melee. (Oops.)
Recommended Match: Immortals v Counter Logic Gaming

It was the last month of the Alienware Monthly Melee, and we’ll miss this tournament after all the good times, upsets, and victories we’ve enjoyed there.  Unfortunately, we sent it off by coming in last place.  Whoopsie-doodle.  It may not have been our finest moment, but we have the Rivalcade Rumble coming up, where we’ll be seeking to redeem ourselves, as well as some other exciting announcements.

In the weeks to come, we’ll be ramping up for the Summer Split of the LCS, as well as continuing to compete in CS:GO, Smash, Overwatch, and Vainglory.  Stay tuned for any further announcements as to our upcoming tournaments!
