The Saga – April 12th

by Immortals | Saga | 12 Apr 2017

Our League and Overwatch squads are taking a break, but that doesn’t mean that Immortals is out of the game entirely.  This week, Shroomed competed in the Yahoo! Smash Rivalries tournament, and our CS:GO team played in Kiev after fighting our way in through the StarLadder qualifiers.  It may be a relatively quiet period for IMT, but our Discord is still buzzing.  Now’s a good time to pop in, say hello, and watch the playoffs with fellow Immortals fans.  Remember to also check our Twitter for updates on our next competitive events.  That’s enough about planning for the future – let’s take a look at the past week for Immortals.

Melee

Tl;dr: Shroomed attends Yahoo! Smash Rivalries, finishes 9th in Singles, 4th in Doubles, and helps West Coast take the Crew Battle over East Coast.
Recommended Match: Shroomed v Duck

After enjoying some suds and buds at Get Smashed at the Foundry in San Francisco, Shroomed headed to a much more cutthroat environment at the Yahoo! Smash Rivalries.  There, he participated in Singles, Doubles, and the Crew Battle.  Shroomed played not only his signature Sheik, but mixed things up with Marth.

The West Coast triumphed over the East Coast, and Shroomed pulled off some respectable results.  He finished 9th in Singles, and with the help of Tempo’s S2J, 4th in Doubles.  It’s always a pleasure to watch Shroomed play – just check out our featured match, where Shroomed gets revenge on Duck for their Full Bloom showdown in an edge of your seat 3-2 series.

CS:GO

Tl;dr: Immortals falls just short of playoffs in the Kiev StarLadder Season 3 Finals
Recommended Match: Immortals v MVP Project

Immortals qualified for the StarLadder Season 3 in Kiev, and the squad was excited to compete.  Unfortunately, this was a rough tournament for us, and we fell just short of qualifying for the playoffs.  Kiev was full of surprises, and unfortunately Immortals was one of the teams who found themselves on the unlucky side of those big upsets, including an unexpected loss to Counter Logic Gaming.

While we couldn’t make it to the playoffs, Immortals remain upbeat.  Check out this interview on Dexterto with our coach, zakk, about the team’s state and our overall goals.  We’re confident that we’ll come back stronger for the next challenge.

This may be a comparatively quiet week, but Immortals have a lot in store while our League and Overwatch teams rest up.  Remember to join our Discord to get a first look at what we have in store for summer, and chat with other fans.
