We’ve been making bittersweet announcements about our 2017 League of Legends roster so far, but we can finally start rolling out the good news. We’re pleased to make our first announcement about our new lineup: Eugene “Pobelter” Park will be returning to Immortals pending Riot approval. We have signed Pobelter for a two year contract, and we’re looking forward to seeing him grow and evolve as a player over the 2017 season.
During 2016, Pobelter proved himself among the strongest mid laners in North America, and managed to distinguish himself as the only non-import mid in the region. Not only is he highly talented, but Pobelter is a solid team player, fluent in both Korean and English, and a joy to have around. During the 2016 regular season, Pobelter helped us achieve a 33-3 regular season record. While we weren’t able to break the semi-final barrier, we’re ready to retool, adjust, and surpass our previous efforts. We’re excited to have him back on the squad for 2017, and we know that he’ll make a great foundation for the newcomers to Immortals.
“Last year was one of my most enjoyable years as a pro gamer so far playing in LCS. So I figured, why not come back and have more good times on Immortals?” –Pobelter
Pobelter has a long history in the North American NA LCS. He played on Winterfox and picked up a championship with Counter Logic Gaming before finally finding his home with Immortals. Throughout 2016 we worked closely with Pobelter, covering everything from in-game development to an assortment of life skills. We’ve formed a close bond with Pobelter and we’re proud to continue this partnership over the next two years and invest in helping Pobelter continue to grow.
“We’re thrilled to bring Pobelter back to the Immortals League of Legends team for the next two years. Throughout 2016, Eugene was the bedrock of our roster and we look forward to achieving great things together with him.” –CEO Noah Whinston
We’re glad to have Pobelter back. One down, four to go.
